You're just like our middle son @Flumpy, he's never up much before 11 at weekends either!!
Not sure where he gets it from hubs and I have always been early wakers 5:30 - 6:30 albeit I don't necessarily get up then usually catch up on here but hubs gets up . Even when I've felt completely shattered and felt like I will sleep for a week...no such luck still wake at the normal time. Guess my body thinks differently and doesn't need much rest.:dunno:

Not sure if I will be enjoying the thunderstorms this afternoon though.

I am up at 6am all week though, usually I’m up about 8am sat ready to do my chores but I’ve been that shattered due to work being so busy all year. Finally finished our flat packed storage bench :rolleyespink: got a nice sore back and knees now, and it’s still raining here, my garden is going into overdrive :heehee: , what’s it like where you live Upsydaisy? :spinning:

Mixture today @Flumpy ,I've been mostly gardening in the rain today . Every now and then we get a glimmer of sun .Had torrential rain and thunder this afternoon too.

I like your storage bench, is it for shoes?

Hi Upsydaisy, yes it’s for our shoes, bought it from the Range, it was a bit fiddly to put together, but it’s strong and sturdy and a memory foam seat for while we get our shoes off. We’ve just cancelled our holiday for Lanzarote, hubby doesn’t want to chance it this year, we where meant to go last year too , but I’m still keeping my time off, I will need a break by August .
Hope the weather cheers up Upsydaisy for me and you :blue thumb:

I know how you feel @Flumpy . Our last proper holiday was in 2001!!! To be honest I prefer long weekends away now. I am not keen on flying really and the thought of busy airports puts me right off anyway. I can remember our last holiday because we hadn't seen or heard any news and I phoned my parents to check on them and Mum told us about 9/11 ...we were so shocked!!! :yikes:

We do have breaks away now and then but planning when to leave the garden is so difficult!!:roflol: Use to be the kids causing problems now it's the garden!:heehee:

Best time would be in the winter I suppose ,but really not keen then.

Luckily we have lovely friends in lovely places too, Norfolk, Yorkshire, Dorset Cornwall ....and if I didn't mind flying ( or leaving my garden for a length of time) then we have friends in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada , Turkey and of course Hubs family back in his homeland too.

We do enjoy our shorter distance breaks especially to all our sons , whenever we go to stay with any of them we can guarantee on seeing the other two too at some point. We also love our breaks down in Dorset too.:)

We always went away for our main holiday in the winter and short breaks in the summer because of the garden. Don't know what we'll do now!

Our last holiday was just before coronavirus and we toured Myanmar. It was a fantastic holiday but couldn't go there now even if there was no virus. :dunno:

Yes it's difficult isn't it. I just feel that at our time of life too our garden gives us so much pleasure that it's worth giving up longer breaks away to maintain it.:dbgrtmb:

We enjoy seeing our brood's holiday pics now, up until Covid there was always one of them jetting off somewhere either on a holiday or on a long weekend break. If they put in the hour's during the week they can easily have extended breaks it seems:)

I am on very familiar terms with the Bay of Biscay it treats my tummy very gently now. I think it feels sorry for me after that mishap I had a while ago. But it was well worth it!! xx

                              Aloha everyone,

Dry and bright, but not sunny, this morning and have done some work in the garden. I've started putting in supports for the peonies that look as though they are going to open flower soon. Ben made me some plant supports and, as usual, made sure that what he does will do the job. They're made out of 1.5 cm diameter metal and are shaped hoops 4ft high :rolleyespink:. That means that to support the peonies properly I have to push it a good 12" into the soil otherwise the peony flowers may not reach above the support. Each hoop is about 3ft wide. If we hadn't had all this rain I wouldn't have been able to push the hoops in far enough. More to do yet. :phew:

                              Keep well

                              Aloha!
