I'm back home after doing some shopping on the way back. It was quite a pleasant drive as the roads were pretty empty. The sun was shining through the mist throwing a soft and gentle light around the trees and animals in the fields. It's now sunny and warm and I suppose I had better get out there and do some things.

Kandy, I'm pleased the eczema is clearing up .

A one day senior's return ticket is £10 and it cost me £13 one way in petrol :(. Mrs Shiney is quite happy to go by train, when they are running properly, as they are comfortable and she does her knitting (makes fashion scarves and sells them for our charity).

    Good afternoon everyone,

Shiney, sorry didn't realise where Mrs Shiney's course was held and had forgotten about the wrinklies bus pass that you can get,so you are right in letting her go on the train especially as she is busy knitting as well in comfort.

We had mist this morning when we went to collect some more leaves at around 8.30 while our leave man is attending the Memorial service elsewhere and there was also two dumpy bags full of grass and leaves in his next door neighbours front garden and I had to be careful when i worked in the grass bag while Mr Kandy held open the dustbin bags as i didn't want to breath in any mold spores which would go down onto my chest like they did the other year.I can do without antibiotics thanks very much:D
Managed to pick some more Autumn raspberries so will have them later on today, but they are slowing down now so won't get many more once the frosts come although they are forecasting heavy rain by next Friday:D

Our allotment rent has gone up from £18 a year for 30 pole to £30 and there are a lot of the old boys complaining that it is a big jump but we are still cheaper as private allotments as oppossed to what we would pay under Council run allotments:what:

I am surprised Shiney as to how quick the Excema is clearing up.There is still a bit of a light patch and it was itching like mad in the night but hopefully will soon be gone as it was a bit sore.:OUCH:

We have a lot of sun here now although we drove home in mist again but the sun is out now so it looks like it is going to be a good afternoon:)

      Morning Woo and everyone,

Woo we have quiet a few flowers still out in flower as the weaather has been so mild including poppies and campanula and it has added an extra piece of colour to the garden:D

After lunch yesterday we went off to the garden centre as we had some vouchers to spend and bought an Amaryllis called Evergreen which as the name suggests is green all over including the flowers.Mr Kandy opened a few of the boxes to check the condition of the bulbs and found a nice one with baby bulbs attached to it so we had that one:D

On the way back home we drove to a farm where we knew Short Eared Owls had been seen and spent a delightful hour or so watching twelve of these magnificant rare birds flying and calling to each other.Only wish we had the camera and lens that one chap had, mega large and mega expensive but the photos he was taking were of magazine quality:D

      Have a good day everyone:)

      Good morning everyone,

It's a bit colder this morning but still dry.

Woo, I suppose you normally go to bed quite early so still being awake at 1.30 must be awkward. I hope you managed to get some sleep . I went to be at 4.45 and and was lucky to get a good two hours :dbgrtmb:

Although it has been so mild there aren't many flowers still in bloom here because of our drought. I spent another few hours yesterday clearing leaves and am already running out of space to put them. A lot of the trees have dropped about 80% of their leaves but the lilacs, cherry pruni (plural of prunus :heehee:) and our giant willow have hardly started.

We've already started in the front garden to cut back a lot of things for winter and we now have a lot of bare soil visible. In one bed we have been trying to get rid of the thalictrum that has become very invasive over the last 20 years. It used to look good but has just got too much so we've cleared most of it (don't think we'll manage to get it all out) and are changing the look of it completely. So far Mrs Shiney has planted a load of lupins she has grown from seed and I'm not sure what else she has put in there.

I'm off soon to the nearest town to have a meeting with someone from the council. They want to move Barry into a different house and I'm going to check it out because I suspect it's not suitable for him. He has a mobility scooter that is very large that needs to be kept under cover and plugged in to the mains whenever he's not using it as it uses a lot of the battery power. From what I can make out of where the property is, it appears to be a shared property (maybe a ground floor flat) but I'm not really sure. If it is then it almost certainly won't be suitable. Housing are getting quite insistent that they want his current house (he's been there 40 years) but after the official hearing we had we have at least got written proof of an agreement about what he needs as a minimum requirement.

      Have a great day :D

      Morning Loli and Shiney,

Loli, hope all goes well with the moving round of your plants, and at leats they will get their feet down before the worst of the weather comes along.

Shiney, sorry I forgot to mention the other day about Barry and hope that you amange to get something decent sorted out for him.It must be such an upheaval to be having to move out of the home he lived in for forty years especially ift aht was the home he sahred with his parents.Sometimes the officals just don't seem to think that far ahead especially as they jsut want him out and into something smaller so they can get in more rent from another family.Good Luck and hope your meeting goes ok and that he gets his life back to some sort of normailty if that is possible. My thoughts are with you at this most stressful time.

      Morning Everyone,

I notice yesterday that my strawberries are blooming up again? I hope that it doesn't damage them when the frost comes. I have thrown a piece of fleece over them.

Shiney, Good Luck with your endeavours with regard to Barry, I really hope you are able to ensure that he is not moved unless it is to somewhere equally suited to his disablement as where he is now.

Thanks for the flowers W00. I lay awake at night and listen to the radio LBC all night.

      Have a good day everyone.:)

Well, I had a look at the flat they were offering. On the face of it the flat isn't too bad. The rooms are a reasonable size, it's quite light, There is a security entry system and the central heating works :dbgrtmb:. On the down side, the council will have to get rid of the mould in the lounge - which is quite bad. The decoration is in an awful condition but the council don't fix that, although they make a contribution towards it. There isn't any outside shed for his scooter but there is a large paved area at the back of the flats.

We shall now need to get together with the councils people that deal with disabled people and we shall need to bring in Social Services (SS) and an Occupational Therapist (OT).

A shed will need to be built and power run to it. The access to the building will need to be improved, a special bath installed, the decorating organised and the moving arranged and all his things installed properly - especially in the kitchen.

Unless the SS can organise it and carry it all out we shall not be able to get him moved. The OT will need to assess him first and liase with the Council before the SS get involved. They may also need to get planning permission for the shed and alteration of the access.

I can't see this getting done by this time next year but they may surprise me.
