I discovered this mystery plant in a garden I was involved in clearing and tidying up a few weeks ago. I rescued it from being thrown in a skip (just couldn't help myself ).

It's been grown in what looks like a large piece of clay pipe, possibly an old chimney pot, and I just liked the look of it.

A few weeks on and it has now flowered. The yellow flowers are on quite long stems and are about 1 to 1½ inches in diameter. The leaves have this dark red or purple mottling, with quite hairy undersides. I have absolutely no idea what it is. Any ideas?

Good find @Trunky , they're going for £5 to £8 on the tinternet.

I used to have Hieraceum Aurantica, the orange/red flowered Species.

We have moved all my books around so it took me that long to find the book on Daisies. Be warned though, all that family can be aggressive seed producers.

We've been digging them out and throwing them away for years! They appear all over our front garden. :rolleyespink:
