Just in passing, I am interested to learn how long it took for you to 'discover' clay in your garden
    ?
Would it have influenced you in choosing your house ?
Did your conveyancer do any kind of search/report upon ground conditions ?
What soil type would you prefer; will it influence your next move ?
What do you perceive as to the pros and cons of your soil ,for your proposed use of the house?

Clay soil is a great medium for shrubs like Camellias, but...they won't enjoy sitting in solid clay that forms an impermeable barrier because they also need decent enough drainage.
If you're planting your Camellias into a border that hasn't had any improvement - ie plenty of organic matter added to increase that drainage and make the soil more workable, then they'll struggle.

Re that neighbour - I'm not sure what you'd need to be doing with your mower that would mean seeds etc getting into their garden! You seem to have quite decent sized boundaries there @Monsiuerbernie !

A weedy grassy patch is much more interesting than a green desert - even if it has stripes!
