So many lovely ones to choose from!

I love the scent of bluebells, and also primula. Very subtle at first, but when you get close enough both of those are gorgeous.

Lilac for the wow factor, no effort required to catch the scent of those!

          And of course roses.

Crushing mint leaves between the fingers, and running a hand over the herb bed, Rosemary, thyme, sage and oregano.

So many lovely scents, what a great thread too :)

One of the strongest scents, on a warm evening, Tuber rose, or Polyanthes tuberosa.
Not easy to find good tubers recently though.

Plumeira (Frangipani) but I don't get much of a chance to smell it here.
Wild but wonderful Gorse!! On a warm summer's day it can almost be overpowering.

:)Thank you everybody, lots of lovely evocative suggestions so far! All ones I like too, except Jeyes Fluid - I once used that to clean the patio here and :eeew:.

And napalm is something I hope never to smell, myself:nonofinger:, though I do like gunpowder, which makes me think of firework displays, and an occasion when I was crossing Hyde Park with my mum and we were surprised by the Royal Horse Artillery, galloping in to do a multi-gun birthday salute for the Queen Mum. It's the only time I've seen that and it is the most dramatic thing - not so much the salute itself as the horses and gun carriages galloping in. Here's one for the Queen:
