Your Favourite TV And Radio Series Over The Years

Come on then, what are your favourite tv series past or present.

For me it is;

• The Edge Of Darkness - brilliant plot, great acting, terrific characters.
• NYPD Blue - I loved this because it was about the characters. The crimes were just a vehicle to tell the characters stories and develop them.
• Ashes To Ashes - Life On Mars was great but Ashes To Ashes took it to another level. Silly but great fun!
• Van Der Valk - probably just because I lived in Amsterdam but I have a soft spot for it.
• The Bridge - not the American version! Subtitled but right up there with....................
• The Killing - again, not the Yanks effort! It's that good that you get totally sucked in and forget the inconvenience of subtitles.
• Spiral - French so once again subtitled but a serious contender for the greatest drama series of all time.
• Boys From The Blackstuff - just plain epic. Still a great watch.
• Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smileys People - hated the books but the film, TV and radio adaptations are benchmarks for program making.
• Fawltey Towers - is there anything that needs to be said!

So that's a brief summary of some of mine, what are yours?

• Aufedersein Pet - you couldn't help but laugh!
• Tales from the Unexpected - some of them used to give me the spooks
• The Professionals - well, it was eye-candy of the day Martin Shaw
• Bless Thy Neighbour - does that count?
• The Good Life
• Peaky Blinders
• The Fall
• X Files

 

That is great for a laugh now! I watch it occasionally.

Anything that has Nick Caves Red Right Hand as its intro music has got to be good

Along with Line Of Duty one of the best British series of recent years.

 

Whatever you liked, if hasn't been shown yet, it soon will be on the "Drama" channel.

Goodnight Sweetheart, (only those with Dervla Kiwan in it)
Early series of Mad Men.

Many of the Scandi dramas, like Wallander.

Suits.
Has Prince Harry seen this?



Maybe he had and that's what attracted him to her.

 

For me :~

• Rag tag and bobtail
• The woodentops ( series IV )

 

I missed out "The Lotus Eaters,"

Wanda Ventham (Benedict Cumberbatch's mum) at her best.

 

That's the one ... coupled with Bless This House

 

I used to love watching Desperate Housewives - used to watch it with a good mate and laugh out loud at some of the goings on in Wisteria Drive.

Also Dallas with the baddie JR Ewing!

Roots was a good watch.

Also Ironside, Kojak, and Pertrocelli when I was younger.

When is was a kid I loved The Herbs and still do and the Magic Roundabout is class!

When I was a kind it was Thunderbirds, but before that Fireball XL5, and Supercar.
Anyone remember Space Patrol, with its really, really rubbish set up.

After that I moved on to Popeye, huckleberry hound and yogi bear.

I do remember my Grand Dad telling me about the Plane makers, No Hiding Place etc. @shiney.
