    Hello everybody!

I am quite new to the world of gardening and am enjoying the process of absorbing new knowledge!

I have always been fond of roses, especially hybrid teas. They remind me of my late grandmother who had a smashing collection with super fragrants!

I have added a few to my garden, 'Chandos beauty' 'Twice in a blue moon' 'Perception' and I have 'Special anniversary' on the way which I'm looking forward to planting as I've heard it has that ''classic'' rose scent!

So, (sorry for rambling on) what HT's do you find have the most intense, sweet, scents? I really want to create an HT area in my garden with wonderful scents but have found in the past that some roses aren't as scented as nurseries advertise them to be.

I have planted mine in an are that only gets 3hours of sun a day, would you suggest re-planting them in a sunnier spot?

Thank you in advance for your responses, looking forward to reading them.

    Kind regards
    Chris

Good evening and a warm welcome Chris, well as a generalisation Roses need at least 6 hours sun a day,but on saying that, are your Roses performing well or are you at all disappointed with them,if they are doing well and and you are happy with them then I respectfully suggest leave them in their present position;)

As regards to your quest on strong scented Roses,I could reel off a list which are said to be strongly scented, but I think the best way is that if I and all our Rosarian on Gardeners Corner friends suggest Roses that we have grown and have first hand knowledge of their scent is the best way to go:smile:

I would also respectfully suggest that you look through some of our previous Rose Threads where I am sure our fellow Rosarians friends have mentioned how strong the scent is on some of their their Roses:smile:

I would put at the top of my list"Ena Harkness" a very dark vibrant shade of Red which has always been a favourite of mine ;)

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Chris. I'll be watching this thread with interest. All my roses are Floribunda's, unfortunately I live on a windy island and they cope with this better than hybrid tea's. :)

Good evening Loli I have the floribunda "Absolutely Fabulous" and the scent is gorgeous ,
I would describe it as a sweet licorice fragrance;)

Above... A Whiter Shade of Pale...taken just two minutes ago. Even in the fading light it is beautiful and smells divine. Neighbours comment on the perfume when they pass by.

I bought that rose two years ago from Fryers Roses just 10 minutes down the road from me in Knutsford. The old rose gardener there told me it was his favourite of that year, he had worked there for many years and retired last year. I wander round their gardens and rose fields so often the staff say I should be invited to their Christmas "do".

Thank you for changing the display Woo, it deserves to be seen properly.
