Well fails is probably to harsh a word . But which of your new plants lovingly selected from a seed or plant catalogue or online , have not come up to expectations ?
I have two , number one is Dichondra Silver Falls . Bought as plug plants this year , after viewing the photo below for quite a few years. Potted up and grown on in the GH . Planted up into baskets and pots and grown on in the GH . Now after 4 months the ones in the front are submerged by the other plants. The ones at the back , well one has grown to nearly a might 6 inches ! The growth shown in the photo would take several centuries by my estimation thus renamed Dichondra Silver Glacier
    Dichondra_Silver_Falls_2013.jpg
Number 2 are Gazanias , grown from seed no problem. Pricked out growing well . Planted out growing well . But now mid July not one flower or even a sign of a flower bud - they are in full sun :gaah:
Do you have any miscreants to report ?

      Hi Harry,
With me it's Impatiens Balsamina Tom Thumb.
Supposed to grow around 8 to 10", already over that and no sign of any buds let alone flowers.
I've got the feeling we'll be enjoying these over Christmas ! ! !

Begonia Illumination mixed.....admittedly I did buy the plants from Thompson & Morgan when I swore I wouldn't buy anything again from T&M. I'd try growing them again but I'm washing my hands of T&M.

@Fern4 , B.Illumination can be a bit sulky sometimes and be very slow to start. If they are sulky all season just bin them at the end. If they do spring to life save the corms in November for next year.
You should be able to buy B.Illumination at most GC's they are a popular plant these days. So you don't have to risk mail order. T&M do seem to be getting a lot off bad reviews this year.

            Oh yes, quite a few.

Calibrachoa - - sowed loads, ended up with about four plants that are viable, and even they are poor.

Lobelia tupa (kindly gifted by our very own longk) - nothing, zip, nada

Anagallis monellii - I have a tray of these that never got pricked out or pinched out, so are all but useless now

Canary Creeper - four plants from 50 sown, not a flower in sight

ALL petunias are only just getting going now; the only consolation is that the ones I got from T&M are further behind than my own!

Hypoestes - waste of time. Germinated well (nearly 200), and then went on to curl up and die thanks to the sudden jump in temperatures.

My baskets are rubbish, my pots and planters not much better, and only four sunflowers survived!

Still - I managed to resurrect the grass and make it look like a lawn.

Mine have only a few flowers at the moment but there are plenty of buds. Give them a bit longer and you'll hopefully be ok for flowers. The leaves are nice though! ;)

Spanish flag, grew well to begin with then just stopped. Planted it out and it just disappeared.
Perennial gypsophlia- 3 bare roots which have formed plants but no sign of flowers.
Hollyhock Nigra bare roots never appeared- shouldn't have planted them straight out.
Sweet pepper plants were sown early but are still only 15cm or so tall. :noidea:

Looks like a few of us are having a couple of non performers. Really dissapointed with my Gazanias , I have a big container which is just a sea off green leaves.

Mine have been very slow off the mark too, they are finally starting to grow this last week or two with a few strands actually making it over the edge of the containers.

My worst one has been Centradenia Cascade (bought from the same online nursery), that has hardly budged from plug plant size, I have to keep cutting away the rest of the bedding plants so it doesn't get swamped, I can't see it achieving it's description, another one I'll put down as "fell for the marketing hype yet again":

On the other hand the rest of my plug plants from that same online seller are doing great guns.

Same here, and it looks the same down the allotment, peeking at other's plots - it's just been a bad year for them. The one or two that have survived in my plot will be given the Heston Blumenthal star treatment as they will be so rare this year :)

Hmm, I have that down as a "must try" for next year, having seen them at Hampton Court Flower Show. Have you grown them before with success @HarryS ?

Few years back I had one in the same location (conservatory)and it grew to the roof plus and had to go in the end because it was to big. It's replacement failed me.

I bought quite a few plug plants some years ago , which performed well . They only open in full sun , but when they do they catch everyone's eye ( Google image below ). I saw them in our local nursery two weeks ago , selling in a six pack all flowering !
I bought a packet off 100 seeds from Premier , about a third germinated and I pricked out 18. They are growing well but no buds as yet -maybe a late starter ?
