I have two 16 year old step daughters (twins) who from time to time like their fruit and veg; but and it's a big but it has to be shop bought or in their eyes shop "made"....bless 'em :help:

Yesterday they bought themselves a punnet of strawberries for £2, I said to them there are loads ready in the garden the response being "yuk, no your alright they're in the ground", "where do you think they come from in the shops then" I said, "don't know but they're not in the soil are they" :D

Same with the spuds; "I'm definitely not eating them, they're covered in mud and been in the ground with the bugs and worms", again I ask "where do you think the ones in the shops come from", the answer "don't know, but they're nice and clean!!!!"...

Bless 'em, it'd be dull without them :D :impheart:

:heehee: I shall look forward to that! My kids are currently quite small... one won't eat anything vaguely resembling a fruit or a vegetable. The other is more experimental and will happily chew on anything he finds - green strawberries, clumps of fennel, woody apples!

I am going to get him a book on poisonous plants actually! :rolleyespink:

On the other hand we went the extra mile and we laid down some protection to the floor and brought "the garden in"...Our only potato plant, (not even that ready) empty the box with soil and everything on the floor and proceeded to the search of tiny potatoes.
It was a great experience, even if some were small as peas!!!

I have to smuggle my lettuces into the house, wash off the slugs and dirt then pop them into the fridge in a poly bag so there are no questions asked.

I worked in a potato packing factory for a few days, the spuds are washed whn they come in, just before the sacks are sealed up, they add a few handfulls of peat:DOH:

Well I picked some strawberries this morning and put them in an plastic punnet and popped them in the fridge; tonight one of my step-daughters had some after her tea with cream, I let her eat them and then said "enjoy them did you?", "yes" she replied, "really nice, where did you get them from?", well when I told her the garden she struggled to hide her disgust (or I think secretly delight :D) that she'd just eaten better tasting strawberries than half of them on offer in the shops...:love30::loll:

Will she eat them again knowing where they're from - probably not!!!???? :wallbang:
