Hi, not sure if I'm posting this on the right board! My mum has a Yucca Elephantipes, which is about 6ft tall, and is a baby of a previous plant. It's several years old. It has been overwintered in the garden, in a pot and survived well, and is still in the garden. It has a good crown on it. On to the question! It has suddenly produced two shoots both about half way up it's trunk. What we are not sure of, is do we remove them and try to pot them on in the hope of producing new plants? I know you can do this with new shoots from the roots, but these are on the trunk. Has the plant decided to produce branches and so should we leave them , for the plant to do it's thing? Any advise would be gratefully recieved.

    Thanks!

Think I would leave them alone for the time being.

If at a later time you find they need to be removed, you can do so then.

    Old woody stems root readily.

It a naturally branched yucca, so its just doing what come natural.

Thanks Pete. Goodness only knows why it's taken years to decide to grow branches now!!
