    Hi all
last week I`ve order one of them rose of jericho off a cataloque that was selling at £2.50 rathen then the usual £1o .

then you suppose to leave in the water for 24 hrs and the plant will come back to life

and suppose to become like this

well , it`s rare to find loads of information on the net , but most of them is just peoples that say that the plants doesn`t grow and doesn`t look like the picture ....

well all simple ....what they are selling is just fake .......first the plant doesn`t come from Jericho , but more from texas and the plant is actually a dead plant as is cutted off the bulb and when the dead plant get back in water will absorbe water and look like a living plant , but actually is a dead plant .......

overall I was reading that it`s actually possible to propagate the dead plant , almost like moss , that will germinate from dry plant .but not easy ......

Oh dear, reminds me of when I see bulbs and bagged plants sold in the sheds, way past their planting time, dry as a bone and dead as a doornail. 50% off for a dead plant is still 100% too much!

Now you've got it you may as well give it a try, though.

      I bought one in 1983.
Its still in the greenhouse on the shelf.
It opens up in wet weather and curls back up in dry.
      Similar to a pine cone.
It was called "the resurrection plant" back then.
Pretty sure mine is dead and always has been.

Pete , a plant bought in the 1983 , that have never grown or flowered , didn`t you get suspicious ;) ?
overall the plant that look like a fern or moss , is nothing more then a brassica related.....yes a brassica ... that make me think that could be cold resistant ........ps sure my dead one is frost resistant ;)

will tray to propagate as moss

apparently the plants have spores like ferns , many peples have managed to germinate from the dead plants , but only work if the plant is not too old , will try , but do not expect any success ...

Zigs the zombie plant come from a reptile center , i didn`t know you can get killing zombie bag and the teen wearing it ;) ........incredible the things you can buy at the reptile center ;)

                  Sal,
I have seen these for sale in the past.
Must be honest, I have my doubts, I agree with Pete.

I think dead plants are mostly frost-proof. ;-)

to be honest my one doesn`t look as green as the one in the picture , but if we ever manage to get a fesh plant it`s not completely impossible .

                    Sal,
You could well get them going.
But life's too short to struggle with something you may or may not succeed with
I used to like trying all these wierd and wonderful things, but after a while just gave up. Would rather spend my time and energy with growing things that have a better chance :spinning:
