I think modern automatic systems are better. The advice with a manual was always to change up early and not rev too much, reducing the chance of wheel spin. Old Auto cars used to rev quite a lot...

If my chillies get a bit leggy I just plant them deeper when they are potted on. They root readily from any buried leaf nodes and I don't remember ever losing one from this method. I don't use...
