Thanks to all who posted about their "smart" meter experiences. Particularly interested when @shiney says that his supplier has accepted his decision not to have one fitted. What puzzles me is the supposed difference between "old/out of date" and "obsolete". My supplier never used the latter...

It started raining at 9 this morning, and stopped from 11 to 2 o’clock. Continued to rain since then. It was not cold with 10c but feels wet. I wrapped the tree fern. Forecast is -1 tomorrow morning.

Well the ground is very wet so not much. However on the way to the car I noticed that the first crocuses are coming into flower, more snowdrops have popped up and a saw the first Anemone nemorosa flower about to open. On the staging on the decking the gladioli are in full leaf and, note to self,...

Thirty plus years ago one October I took the train from Baden Baden changed once (I think) and went along the Rhine to Cologne where the train went along the Ruhr Valley towards Hamburg and I got off at Herford. The whole journey was fascinating, but especially along the Rhine with vineyards on...

Watched a handsome Green Woodpecker seeking grubs and worms in the Communal lawn yesterday. Stayed around for a good 15 minutes... A very timid bird though - will fly off if he catches sight of you moving.. jenny namaste

I was looking idly at the rain out of an upper floor window an hour ago when I saw two beautiful foxes cross the garden from right to left in single file. They seemed unhurried but businesslike - straight across the garden with no hesitation or diversions.
