Our very old thyme has given up the ghost. Our fault because we didn't prune it back when we should have done. However some thyme (not sure which one) appeared in a different area of the garden in a lavender bed more like a rock garden space, and this is a creeping one that the bees love.

Thanks everyone!I’ll give them a go with a repot and see how they get on this year. I don’t really have anywhere sheltered and sunny I can put them so I’ll leave them where they are for this year and if it doesn’t improve they might need a new home. Let’s see.

If you want something unusual try Ugni. They are related to blueberries but the fruit ripen much later and have a fragrant taste - we liked them, more for snacking on than pies I suspect. I bought the variegated one and have it in my front garden. I think it would be OK in a pot.

They arrived today, the rootstocks have rather poor root systems so i potted them up instead of planting them out. Give them summer and see if the grafts take.Good lord it was exhausting grafting them all. I decided to graft the scion then do 2 bud Grafts in the hope at least one of them...

I think it is about 2.5ft deep, so a fair size. Whatever is in there gets watered daily along with the hanging baskets etc. I do actually have the components of an auto-watering system in the shed, just not had time to install it... maybe that is a task for this year
