Just to say I agree with Peony Lover, in that I have often cut low into lavender, especially if a tiny bit of new growth is visible lower down, and as long as the area can receive some sunlight it recovers very well and resprouts.

I have a trellis with artificial climbing leaves on it to cover the ugly oil tank sitting on concrete which is near the back door. We replaced the previous one which looked a bit tatty after five years. Current one is 3 years and still looks fine.I'm not sure that I would want one in a seating...

I'd agree with both @NijelJ and @pete . One other thing is to consider what wildlife you are aware of in your area - have you spoken to neighbours to see if they have encountered similar problems and have they any ideas as to the culprit?

We used Mo last year and it has worked fairly well but as said its too early and cold for it to work and if applied it may well be washed away by the rain. The bag states it needs 12c before it can work properly, you will also see that it states you can apply Lime about now if needed, well...
