    I use a similar method for growing peppers. I prefer the palermo type rather than the bell peppers. Fresh seed sown within a couple of days results in excellent germination. Still a bit early...

    Yes a few years ago we visited a garden in Suffolk. They had a border with some very old Lavenders which still looked fine. They said they cut back hard in February-March each year.
