That's interesting. I could let the row between my front garden and next door grow taller. The front of the house hedge will need to be less than 4 ft high so I can safely get my car out. There's no pavement in front of my house. Thanks for the suggestion

Not sure if anyone else does this but when it comes to hardening off seedlings I use this kind of thing if the cold frame is full.

A bit odd for new turf to act that way only after a short time. You've probably got drainage issues with the clay soil being a contributing factor and also if its a new build then the soil is not very good under that. Then you have the north facing and what looks like a down pipe running into...

Well you could go for a weed and feed but most peoples "lawns" have weeds, its only those that practice proper lawn care that really have weed free lawns.Personally I'd just give it a feed to get the grass growing, which it should be starting to do now, it will take a while but the grass...

You can leave them in a cool light space for a while if you're not ready to plant out yet. The shoots will green up and strengthen a bit. Plant carefully as already said.

Yes a few years ago we visited a garden in Suffolk. They had a border with some very old Lavenders which still looked fine. They said they cut back hard in February-March each year.

I have a trellis with artificial climbing leaves on it to cover the ugly oil tank sitting on concrete which is near the back door. We replaced the previous one which looked a bit tatty after five years. Current one is 3 years and still looks fine.I'm not sure that I would want one in a seating...
