Good to see somebody else does these too. Have been surprised to find these are quite frost hardy; the earliest sowing were planted outside and have mainly survived the winter.

I've seen this on mine from time to time, you can usually trace back down the stems to live wood, and prune back to below it. Never known the cause but possibly fungal. Could be frost damage I...

What should I try and get for them?
My local garden centre ALWAYS has them at 50% of RRP. One might almost suspect it's a con!

Thanks guys I depotted it. Most of the roots were good, just a couple damaged, I suspect, when they inserted 2 stakes to support the blooms.All damaged roots removed along with the moudly ones....
