Thank you everyone, it is covered in flower buds so I'll keep it potted near the back door for fragrance and then consider where to put it. We had a pretty cold winter for here and it would have been sat outside in the sales beds during that, so is probably a lot more hardy than I had considered.

The repellent balls not working is so on brand for squirrels. Ours used to sit on top of the ultrasonic deterrent eating hazelnuts. Only thing that ever actually kept them off anything for me was physical netting, everything else they just treat as a mild inconvenience.

Loads more here too this year, way more than the last couple of springs. Noticed them clustering around the rose buds already which is perfect timing honestly, the aphids were just starting to show up. The warm February probably helped them come through winter in better shape than usual.

Is it not killed by normal weed and feed products? But I would agree in making the lawn less susceptible by improving the conditions for the grass over the weeds.

Eco plugs will work not cheap and is a professional product but can be bought off ebay .
