I reuse the compost from my Potato bags each year, I do refresh with new compost and feed. No problems so far

@LilyTL, yes, you can re-use the compost from the pots but you should remove any roots first. The removed compost would benefit from some granular fertiliser being mixed with it and/or some bagged manure to beef it up before re-using either in pots or in the garden.

Over 30 plants gone in over the past couple months. Here's some updated pictures.Still yet to tackle the patio area.Have put in a lot of evergreens. 2 holly, 5 euonymus, 1 bamboo, 6 red robins, 2 pieris, 3 yew, and a few others I can't remember.

Tulips are such photogenic flowers!

Thanks regarding the dog violets as well, I have loads of them in the back garden. They seem to really love it there in the shady places and also edges of the lawn

You're welcome. It's a good plant to have a go with as the success rate is high. Maybe 80% of cuttings will take and grow on happily.

That variety does very well here and I have a few self seeded ones pop up every year, even though I never bought one to begin with. The only downside is they never self seed where I would like them so most come out for the local plant sale.

First bloom opened on "SAN REMO" VARIETAL WHITE FRILLED PETALS

I've seen this on mine from time to time, you can usually trace back down the stems to live wood, and prune back to below it. Never known the cause but possibly fungal. Could be frost damage I suppose.

@Tidemark Your "suggestion" of Morecambe and Wise for the dancing statues is excellent. Very apt in fact as one of their TV shows pictured M and W in bed together. "in bed together" describes T and E rather well Alledgedly of course

Me too @AnniD I sorted my seeds last night and have 4 varieties plus seeds I took from last year's fiery ones.

Thanks guys I depotted it. Most of the roots were good, just a couple damaged, I suspect, when they inserted 2 stakes to support the blooms.All damaged roots removed along with the moudly ones. The peat plug (almost dry) was also removed.The base and roots immersed in 1g/L copper sulphate...
