That's sad Are they short of food or too many predators. I read that ferrets had been cleared from an island recently so the eggs and chicks can survive now and help population recovery.

Think one of the biggest draws to rats is BBQs, especially 'chilled out' neighbours, not tiding up, or leaving the tidying until morning after a jolly good BBQ.

I like the moat method for seedlings I sow in the greenhouse and it works well (I put the legs of the stand in water so I have more room) but you do get intrepid slugs that scale the greenhouse...
