I have taken mine out of pots last autumn and transplanted into the ground with top dressing of ericaceous . Other acid lovers are doing fine in my soil and i have 3 water butts handy for where...

Perovskia - how much would you cut down?
That looks fine That's about the height that I reduce my Verbena bonariensis to. Your Perovskia shouldn't be tempting for slugs anyway because of the strongly scented, tough, silvery foliage....

@Obelix-Vendée there doesn't seem to be any reason established as to their demise or inability to breed. The Guillemots population there does get hammered by Raven predation.

Probably because they have the chemicals that can be used on some of the potential problems that the ordinary gardener doesn't have access to. Blight etc, admittedly viruses are a bigger problem.

Think one of the biggest draws to rats is BBQs, especially 'chilled out' neighbours, not tiding up, or leaving the tidying until morning after a jolly good BBQ.
