    That looks fine That's about the height that I reduce my Verbena bonariensis to. Your Perovskia shouldn't be tempting for slugs anyway because of the strongly scented, tough, silvery foliage. They don't touch my Salvia Caradonna which is in the same family (mint).

    @Obelix-Vendée there doesn't seem to be any reason established as to their demise or inability to breed. The Guillemots population there does get hammered by Raven predation.
