I've always left the snowdrop seed pods on @Blue arbour, mainly because I've got lots all round the garden and I'm lazy.

I have taken mine out of pots last autumn and transplanted into the ground with top dressing of ericaceous . Other acid lovers are doing fine in my soil and i have 3 water butts handy for where they are planted so i am keeping my fingers crossed that this works.
