    Yes it is parasitic on mainly hazel and alder but can be on the roots of other trees. The flowering part that @Adam l photographed is the only part of the plant seen above ground and comes up in April/May so @Adam l was very lucky to see it but then so many plants are flowering earlier than usual.

    Tree that sprouted near compost heap.

    Of the two I have peregrine has tiny petals in comparison to the red peach,the flowers really don't stand out much.I've not noticed peach leaf curl attack the flowers.

    I'd be very careful of the vinca as @CarolineL says. Whilst the v major is the worst, the v minor will also spread rapidly. Are you keeping all of the lawn shown in your photo ? If so, there isn't a lot of space left for plants. Either way, violets, ferns, spring bulbs may be worth considering.
