Yes - a soil based mix with some grit or gravel is probably the ideal for daffs. If I have tulips, I use more grit/gravel in the mix, and I keep them more sheltered until they start to come through properly. It's too easy for them to get soaked, and be sitting in wet conditions for too long....

Thanks for all your tips - I have a sheltered place next to the cold frame which may be good. Then can pot on in March - see what the weather is like . I'm wirral so quite central not too hot not too cold ( although it was freezing in the house today ) . Thank you

Sorry, did not mean to confuse you with the word "compost" when refering to that Westland Mix.If it was us we would follow the advice from these two sites which are probably the most respected in the uk for their plant growing knowledge. Chatbot etc could come back with loads of "compost"....

I'd wait until Spring. It's dormant at the moment so the additional compost will be of no benefit. Wait until you see some sign its waking up, then repot so it can enjoy the new compost.

I have a peach tree however the pot is too big to bring in over winter. This is what it looked like last year during summer. My understanding is that peach trees need cold to make peaches though this one has never produced a peach

Well, its not totally hardy, a hard winter or a cold position will kill it, or damage it badly. Especially, in a pot, if the pot freezes its likely to be the end.
