I believe the "pom pom" effect is achieved by cloud pruning, not the natural growth habit, so it might need some maintenance to keep the shape because Leylandii won't regrow if cut back to brown...

Haha, yes! Leycesteria grows right next to it, but it wants to grow all over my garden.Thank you! It was left in this house by previous tenants I think. I'll go for the Alpines and succulents.
