2013 Tomato Growing
It was the end of 2013's tomatoes couple of days ago. Two 3L slow cooker loads were turned into pasta sauce, leaving these for composting (after some have been picked out for the hens).

I've only ever grown them by the old fashioned methods used here. There are other ways used on the continent but I've never understood or tried them.Mostly it involves a lot of pinching out...

Fruit as a windbreak .. blackberry or raspberry
If you're thinking of blackberry or raspberry you might want to check out tayberry too - utterly delicious and worth considering if one of the other plots has a lot of blackberries already

Thanks, Penny. This is a good time of year for harvesting them. They usually continue through to Jan/Feb but November is the best time.

Onions - when will they be ready to harvest?
They are Ailsa Craigs - I can see the bulb on a few of them, and they aren't all that big. Ah well, I'll oik them out and use what I can.Not going to bother with them again.
