the last time i did it, it helped the srouts grow! so no it wont have a bad effect on them, i know of people who grow for tops rather than the sprouts, they do look strange though without there...

I did pot up my cheap trees. And yesterday they were planted in the ground. I staked them as the rootball on them is not very big and probably fragile. The trees are starting to bud, I am hoping...
