    I thought it could have possibly been a variety that needed planting in Autumn?Going through the cold of winter before really making a move. Which in effect was what it did.

    problem with tomatoes

    Probably not often enough. If growing in containers them once a day more likely and, if it pots in a greenhouse, then probably twice a day in hot weather.

    Maybe the conditions are too humid. More air in the greenhouse might sort out the fruit problem also, along with good watering.
