English or pot marigold.You can gather the seed heads to resow next year. As they are hardy annuals, you may also get some popping up next year anyway...

There's a trail of parsnips, chicory and salsify growing from my front garden all the way to my plot a quarter of a mile away.

Don't be worried about forgetting a plant name, it's when you forget your own that you need worry.

Blue flowers? Maybe Brunnera macrophylla ?

In which case you would be better painting the emerging shoots with SBK weedkiller.

Hi I have uploaded another photo to see if this helps also the peach tree that we looked at the leaf does look very similar, any help is appreciated as we are mind boggled at the moment

I did put it badly didn't I! In truth they do lose their leaves and gradually die back and shrivel over two or three seasons (at which point I remove them). As I say, they do serve as "food stores" at first for the rest of the plant.

one of the birds scattered it for you then... Millet is often included in the seed mixes.. Attractive talking point if nothing else..

Thanks Silver Surfer I think you are right. I have informed my friend who was going to dig some of it up and put it in their garden. I think they will think twice about it now.

The third one looks like a Spruce.

Sadly most of the self seeders tend to be insipid colours. I did luck in and get a green tinged white flowering plant this year. But on the whole I pull/dig most of them out, and never let them go to seed as they cross pollinate and/or revert.
