    I can see the difference Peter ... the G byzantinus are fuller in the bloom ... The ones on the roadside were more orange in colour. That is something strange here Peter ... I can't...

    I agree with Jazz. For me, Pieris is very slow growing, so I would suggest you don't prune it at all unless you really have to.

    Thank you, Palustris! I think you're spot on - there are crocus bulbs in there but I've only grown them from bulbs before and didn't realise they did this. In that case I shall let them get on...

    I also agree it's Briony ... I have it creeping and climbing over the stone walls trying to get into my garden from the orange groves. It's a right nuisance ... get rid of it quickly as it grows...
