We do have Pyracantha but it's different in the leaf form. There are a few Cotoneaster trees around, and also a few in woodland areas, so if it is Cotoneaster, it's a native I suspect. (if there is such thing) I think because I took the photos with my ipod.. might have something to do with it

The British native Oxalis acetosella can be pretty invasive too.

It is hard to tell the difference between Burwoodii and delavayi until you get a close look at the leaves.

Thanks Julie, you're right it's a flashier version it has a carmine pink colour.. I'm not sure how they arrived at that, but I'll be sure to let you know whether they come true from seed.. perhaps they will just revert to their natural colour if they seed. Tony, there are few Chilean plants...

Welcome Clarita! 1. Agree Hostas. All rest are Rhododendron sp or cultivars. There are 1,000 of different ones. Even experts struggle to ID which one is which. Some Rhodos are known by the common name Azalea. There are many wonderful gardens in Scotland. I do hope you manage to visit more...

Hi Sven, Sorry, only just seen your reply. I never got the seeds from you Must have got lost in the post, thats a shame. Does the Jamaican border control irradiate incoming post by any chance, X rays might be a possibility. Does seem odd that not many germinate. It's very frustrating...

The trouble is that Zigs would stoop to anything!

First one looks like Roseopicta, second does look like Triostar (used to be Ctenanthe Oppenheimiana Tricolor, bit of a mouthful ) and the third, Wavestar.

Whoops, that's the one I meant, not Coronilla. Never managed to get the seeds to germinate though.

I have now lost interest in this shrub completely, especially since I can buy the berries cheaply!
