    Thanks for the link Silver Surfer..........and the Rust confirmations John/Pete. I'll cut back the worst affected leaves and apply an appropriate fungicide as per the RHS advice.

    I put a very similar pic. last year and got the same answer. It's spike this year is 6' high and pretty inpressive. Now I know I need to chop it down before the seeds drop - on my way NOW.
