Oh yes! I am plagued with these, they are flowering everywhere. There well may have self seeded in the area that is now my veggie patch as I don't know what was there before I started digging. Thank you I can carry on pulling them out with gusto.

thanks all, the shape of the leaves threw me as some are typical birch looking whilst others arnti will see what i can, what are the roots like..its basically on top of my hazel

If it's Armandii it should be flowering about now, depending on your location. The ones in this area are nearly 'past their best' now.

I'm pretty sure they're Cranesbills too. Definitely not weeds.

I would compost it - minus the seed heads and the roots - if that makes sense.

Strictly speaking the first one is Salvia officinalis Icterina The second one is probably Thymus Archers Gold one of many forms of lemon thyme

Technically they'e all Rhododendrons.. but the smaller ones get called Azaleas

Hi thereOh dear, yes, definitely the dreaded bindweed. For a thug, it has very pretty white trumpet flowers but it probably isn't quite what you had in mind when you planned a wildflower garden. Its roots (pale white-ish runners) spread quickly, which is why it seems to be springing up...

Well it doesn't have to be poor other flowers.. Get some Round Up.. tip some into a large jar or an old bucket & mix wallpaper paste with it..When you know it will be dry for a few hrs & it is nice & thick, put on some rubber gloves with old socks over the top.. Then get the weed killer mix on...

Hi snudge & Welcome to GC.. I am not sure by any means but how about Lobelia fulgns 'Elmfeuer... ??? Could have been spread by the roots when you were rotivating...!! It dies back in the winter, but is a lovely cottage garden type plant..:wink:

Salad burnet is nice in salad, in small quantities. I have a couple of plants in a large pot.

It also looks like geranium to me :thumb:
