Unfortunately those signs are increasingly necessary. Those red squirrels drive like maniacs. They need to be told to slow down a bit.

Great tip about packing corms in dry sawdust, Marley. Now I know just what I'm going to do with mine when they're finished.

Looks like a good idea. It would be great for growing spuds in. Something confuses me though. Surely it will loose a lot of moisture and so need lots of watering. I thought Africa was hit by regular droughts. How does this work? Also, doesn't the hessian sack just rot away after a few weeks? I...

What super large petals! Ours are just about finished now and I've been harvesting the seeds to feed the birds over winter. Brilliant flowers for attracting bees - I always grow one up the climbing bean supports as well as a few others around the garden. Also great flowers for children to grow.
