Hi ya, not a silly question at all... I always leave the stems as most flowers that are dip-able have suitable stems to dry.. I just dip the flower head. Rose stems & the like will dry woody so they are fine. I sometimes use some florist wire & tape to help stiffen others. If the stems dry out...

What a beautiful collection, I have 2 and have only managed to get one to flower so far, they've both been in pots this year as the first one I had did go in the ground and did nothing at all. So no need for digging up just pop the pot in a cold frame althought that might be a little difficult...

All it needed to make it perfect was some snow on the ground and a robin on a fence in the foreground. :hehe:
