    Thank you Palustris, for confirming it is a Shasta Daisy - and it is comforting to know it may be an old variety rather than a monster! I’ll see if it behaves itself with better support this year.

    I don't think ivy regows from just roots but any tiny pieces of top growth and roots will. I'd wait and apply SBK to any regrowth, with a sprayer, to the manufacturer's instructions.
