    Steve, as you are getting rid of the plant don`t worry too much about the roots. Just dig around the plant and cut the roots.

    Now is the perfect time to transplant them. Unless it's a really harsh Winter they should keep their younger leaves. Rust is an airborne fungus so there's nothing you can really do to prevent it.

    For indoor use it should work well, although you might have to re-stick it in a year or two. Outdoors in the cold and the wet.........not so good.:dunno::snorky:
