:D :D I can imagine what your springer looked like. My Cav loved our 4 inches of snow today and spent a lot of the day leaping around the garden (so much for pristine surfaces :D ), I then spent time removing his snow baubles. Fortunately not as frozen as the last time I had to do it.

I wouldn't do that - though the old grass will rot down, it takes time. Also all the weeds of the previous lawn will just grow through. Far better to remove the old turf and prepare the surface properly prior to returfing.
