    The tallest plant is the willow, best to remove it completely if you can, otherwise it will just regrow.

    Thanks all for replies, other than a very light tidy up I've never really pruned them so maybe cutting back quite hard will encourage new growth and thickening.

    Yes, the shoots are on an old flower stem.I stopped watering it for two months as I simply forgot about it (once the flowers had gone over I moved it you see).Many thanks for the advice.
