Not me, they are tough plants - and you did a good job lifting them, and watering overnight. One is being very slow, but the others are really taking off - I am getting impatient to see just what they are. :D

Sow the seeds straight away in normal seed sowing compost and keep somewhere shady etc. They should germinate next spring.

So...it must be eating roses, that one becomes such a beauty...

Well Fran I know what I am going to be on with this Sunday - digging them all out and re planting yet again!Only joking, grafts are just about ground level so there they will stay.

Climbing roses love to have their branches bent, this increases the sap flow and you get more shoots. It is not always possible to do this with a new plant - depends on how big your branches are.

People next door but one have just planted several De La Haie, as well as rugosas, so that'll be lovely through the summer - must walk the dog past there regularly!! :D

The only other thing I could suggest if you have a rose with particular value - sentimental or otherwise - would be to try a graft onto some new rootstock but you will have to wait a wee bit until growth is really under way to get good grafting material (scions) from the donor plant.

As an addition - black spot being the most common problem. Twould be an idea to spray it now whilst the leaves are shooting - roseclear will do, need to repeat it a couple of times as per the instructions. Spraying will hold off black spot for a good long time.

If it were me, I'd choose a colour, decide what sort of rose I wanted,(climber, rambler, bush, patio, etc), whether I wanted a scent or not, then google roses, and check all the sites to see what suited me best! There are so many roses, you can't possibly know them all!! The Peter Beales site...
