A small Magnolia Tree (preferably soulangeana)
I have a magnolia called 'Susan' Which is very nice and isn't growing very big. If it does they can be easily pruned.

Cherry Tree problem
Curled up leaves make me think black fly. We get them on our 10 year old fan trained cherry. If you can get a good look inside one of the leaves you might get a clue. But if the tree is a monster...

thats brilliant info thank you! I did see those traps in my local gc so will go and get some. is nothing worse than eating an apple and finding half a worm!!!

I would expect a tree that size to droop at this time of the year when planted. Most things check on planting when they shooting. Though there is always a danger of how it was dealt with before...

Flowering Cherry Dying
Thank you "frogesque" I will look tomorrow (hopefully a dry day) & let you know. I also noticed another flowering cherry about 100 yds away the same as mine. One perfect & the other dying.

I would take it back a bit after fruiting. I pruned mine hard last year but it should fill out this year. Looks like you are in for a good crop. Mine sets well but drops quite a lot of fruit sort...
