I think it's wide enough, if you mean you want it 800mm wide. They will need some decent light so will they get at least some sunshine in that position.

I'd agree that once a Magnolia forms strong roots, they grow well in neutral Ph , clay soil. As with most pot-grown plants, it's the transition from compost-based rootball to open soil that is the tricky part.

When we did our willows we did them in the Autumn and were told to strip of all the leaves as @Adam l says to reduce transpiration. Still worth giving it a go.

It looks very similar to the type I see around here with flowers varying in colour from pink to almost purple, from a distance.They are also the white flowered short bushy types.That one looks a bit thin, either its nearly finished flowering or the surrounding trees are affecting its growth.

This is a chimera or graft hybrid between laburnam and broom. Interesting because the tissues remain seperate so you get yellow and pink flowers on seperate branches. I wonder if they would be happier planted in the ground if possible?
