    I don't have specific experience of B darwinii and pruning. I would be inclined to cut one back by about two thirds and if it grows away next spring, then treat the others similarly.

    Plums do have off years but have to say yours looks very unhappy. I'd start with a really good watering and checking it over for disease. Have you done any pruning on it in the last year?
