I would say it`s a 3 year old maiden. It doesn`t need pruning yet, leave it alone. More importantly, what is the variety, as most apples need a pollinator to produce fruit.

Good questions Mathew. I'm growing some Egyptian/ walking/ tree onions in the ground. I had to search all over the internet to find them. They are doing well, with little bulblets appearing in the air. I've just no idea what to do now. Look forward to some answers for you and me both.

ive just cut three off these out of my garden. if you are worried about any environmental impact of cutting down a tree why not put a nicer , more appropriate one in its place?
