Ive got a 25m laurel hedge thats been 6ft tall a 2ft wide for 25 years now.Gets pruned 1/2 a year. No feeding required and no dramas. Wildlife wise its almost devoid of it but no problem as the rest of the garden is heaving with alsorts of birds bugs etc etc. Great hedging if u prune it yearly.

I doubt the tomorite was to blame. I am inclined to agree with you that it's dying. Probably best to remove it and start again with a young tree elsewhere. It's not obvious what is killing it but...

Could be either woolly aphids or more likely Oyster scale aka American Blight. Either way you need to remove it asap, it does harm the tree eventually. Scrub the bark with a Horticultural soft...
