It's probably best left as a standard, get something else to grow on the trellis. It may be possible to train it by pruning out most of the branches, leaving only the ones you want to train but only if you really don't want it as it is. It is Salix integra.

Great idea Dim, I think they would fare much better in pots (than Boo's). Those Zebrinus look nice my personal favourite is Molinia Caerulea "Transparent" which I think is lovely to look through/over when it is fully grown in, say, August-November
