Not sure if this is posted in the correct forum.We were given a Coronet Minature Apple Tree in a large pot as a gift, apparently it grows two different types of apples, Elstar and James Grieve. The tree is about 4 or 5 ft in height, looks pretty healthy looking and quite a crop of apples...

I doubt the tomorite was to blame. I am inclined to agree with you that it's dying. Probably best to remove it and start again with a young tree elsewhere. It's not obvious what is killing it but it could be honey fungus. I would have thought, given it's size that it was planted more than 4 or 5...

I have to agree with everything that Anthony has said, this tree really isn't suitable for what you have in mind. There's also the possibility with a tree that has such vigorous growth the roots would break through it's container anyway.

Yeah, I'll go for this plan I think, trimming it back for the next couple of months just to tide it over and then go for a major haircut next spring.

Several years ago I grew an apple tree from a pink lady seed. It's been growing great until recently. 18 months ago I pot planted it outside.A month ago it was growing healthy but all of a sudden it's starter turning yellow.Any ideas what's wrong?

Great information Wiseowl! I bought a cheapie 'Stella' from Tesco. It said on the label that it would grow to 3m but with no indication of rootstock. From what you have said I am guessing it would be on Gisela 5 rootstock............so..........I guess I will need to support it...

Ive got a 25m laurel hedge thats been 6ft tall a 2ft wide for 25 years now.Gets pruned 1/2 a year. No feeding required and no dramas. Wildlife wise its almost devoid of it but no problem as the rest of the garden is heaving with alsorts of birds bugs etc etc. Great hedging if u prune it yearly.

Hi whis4eyYes the colours are fantastic, best viewed with light drizzle when the colours look really rich. Im not sure about pruning yet as do not want to kill anything. i will look into this though thank you.

Thank you shealAltho im not sure it is as i googled it and all the trees it majorly effects that are near by these ones are fine and they dont have any of the symptoms showing.The trees will be getting removed eventually unfortunately time is a big issue for my parents so we will see how...

Just remember if you ever want to prune an Acer don't do so until November, when the tree is dormant, as they tend to bleed their sap if you don't.
