Mine grow in shade of full sun with or without watering and they grow out of brickwork on front of garden wall ,ive got clay about 12inch down also..i reckon it would grow in most places x

Absolutely agree, although if they offer a guarantee on their plants (which Ashridge trees do) then I guess you've got nothing to lose! and they will be confident in their plants even planted during April.

Thanks Daytona! Unfortunately I have loads of veg seeds to grow, no greenhouse, a shortage of suitable windowsills and a major skill deficit in growing from seed... I wouldn't want to waste them but cheers for the offer!

Hi Colin, I think you'll find your local nurseries (even B&Q) have plenty of brassicas ready for planting out. Could save you a lot of traveling about to pick some up.
